Chapter Four:
Music

If you've read my resume you would see that I got a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Conservatory at Baldwin-Wallace College. It was simply one of the best experiences of my life to study with members of the Cleveland Orchestra, the Ohio Chamber Orchestra and the Akron Symphony Orchestra. My "major" was flute, but four years of intensive study produced in me a very wide range of appreciation for all genre's of music. It would not be uncommon to find on my tablet the following:  Jimmy Hendrix, Aerosmith, B.B.King, Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and some very unusual "works" - which I will share with you now.

Jaan Pehechaan Ho:
Seriously, this is fantastic. If it weren't for Heinekin
(from the commercial entitled "The Date"),
I would never have found this little ditty....
and it's great....it's really, really great:

Composed by Shankar Jaikishan, lyrics by Anand Bakshi,
sung by Mohammed Rafi,

Renee Eespere, "Trivium"
I discovered this piece when I purchased and unusual set of
contemporary music from a CD Club. It's my favorite instrumental
and Renee Eespere has by far become one of my most
favored contemporary "classical" composers:

Rene Eespere - Trivium for flute, violine and guitar (1993)

This is a group of four women who sing some of the oldest
music known to exist: 14th century polyphony...
(sorry - you're just going to have to look that one up)
The pieces are hauntingly beautiful and I fell in love with this genre -
and this group when I was listening to this CD on a night I went looking for a
better view of the
Hyaktake Comet and ended up in a large cemetary
on the outskirts of Chardon. I could have stayed there all night.
